Small aircraft found crashed in Sweden

A plane was suspected of crashing after it disappeared from the radar outside Leksand in Sweden at 9 pm on Wednesday night. This was stated by the Air Rescue Center.

Rescue services, police and several helicopters were deployed in the search for the small plane.

Just after 11 pm, the small plane was found crashed, reports Expressen.

It was the Swedish Maritime Administration’s helicopter that observed the plane from above.

The plane had crashed at Ekfännsberget between Leksand and Dala-Järna.

Only the pilot on board the plane was on his way to Värmland.

– This is an accident, which has also been confirmed by the local rescue service on the ground. The AIBN will be involved, says Agne Hörnestig, communicator at the Swedish Maritime Administration.

There was a man on board the plane, but the police currently have no further details to share.

– We started a search after a friend of the missing pilot reported, says operator Lars Antonsson to Aftonbladet.

The police are said to have had contact with a friend via the aircraft radio, and it was this friend who reported to the emergency services about the plane crash, when the plane did not land at the airport for the estimated time.

The plane disappeared from the radar when it was in the air, and according to Antonsson it is bad weather in the area.
